A brilliant silver place finish for a selection of our Year 6s who competed in the Hull Active Schools Panathlon Multi Sport Games afternoon. Huge congratulations!

Year 5 enjoyed their visit with author and artist Ben Rothery today who demonstrated how typically frightening animals can be drawn in a way to make them seem softer and more approachable. The artwork that the Year 5s produced today will be displayed in Hull libraries early December (parents please... find letter that’s gone home with your Year 5 children tonight!)

🌟 Attendance Success in 2HE! 🌟

A huge congratulations to all of the children in 2HE, who won the hot chocolate treat with an amazing 99.6% attendance! We are so proud of their commitment to being in school, ready to learn every day. 👏📚

We would also like to give a ...special congratulations to one of our children who won the ‘Hello October’ Challenge by achieving 100% attendance throughout October! 🎉 As a reward for her fantastic dedication, she received a £20 Love2Shop voucher. 🛍️

Well done to everyone for making attendance a priority. Every day in school counts, and we're incredibly proud of your efforts! ⭐

What a fantastic first day our Year 6s have had at PGL! 💙

They’ve thrown themselves into the activities, tackling the crate challenge, climbing, working together and stepping outside their comfort zones. There have been plenty of smiles, laughter, a few nerves overcome and lots of ...encouragement along the way!

It’s been lovely to see them supporting one another, showing resilience and making memories together. So many opportunities to demonstrate our REACH values in action! 🌟

We’re incredibly proud of them all and can’t wait to see what the rest of the week brings.

Here’s to more adventures, new challenges and making memories that will last a lifetime! 💙

Funded Childcare in England: A Quick Guide for Parents (2026)

What Childcare Support Could My Family Get?

The Government offers several funded childcare schemes to help families with the cost of childcare.

👶 Working Parents of Children Aged 9 Months to School Age
...If you live in England and are working, you may be entitled to 30 hours of funded childcare per week (term time) from the term after your child turns 9 months old until they start school. Eligibility depends on your employment status and income.
✅ Available for eligible working families
✅ Up to 30 hours per week for 38 weeks per year
✅ Can often be stretched across the year by your childcare provider

🧸 Eligible 2-Year-Olds
Some 2-year-olds can receive 15 hours of funded childcare per week if their family receives certain benefits or if the child meets specific criteria, such as having an EHCP, receiving Disability Living Allowance, or being looked after by the local authority.
✅ 15 hours per week for 38 weeks per year
✅ Apply through your local council

🎨 All 3 and 4-Year-Olds
Every child in England is entitled to 15 hours of funded early education and childcare from the term after their third birthday, regardless of family income or employment status.
✅ Universal entitlement
✅ 15 hours per week for 38 weeks per year

🌟 Additional Hours for Working Parents of 3 and 4-Year-Olds
Eligible working parents can receive an additional 15 hours, giving a total of 30 funded hours per week.
✅ Total of 30 hours per week
✅ Must meet working parent eligibility criteria

Tax-Free Childcare
Working families may also be able to benefit from Tax-Free Childcare. For every £8 you pay into your childcare account, the Government adds £2, up to £2,000 per child per year (£4,000 for disabled children).
Tax-Free Childcare can be used to pay for:
Nurseries
Childminders
Breakfast clubs
After-school clubs
Holiday clubs

How Do I Apply?
Most applications can be made through the Childcare Choices website:
You can use the Childcare Choices checker to find out exactly what support your family may be entitled to.

Important to Remember
Funded childcare covers the childcare hours only. Providers may charge for optional extras such as meals, snacks, trips, nappies or additional hours. These charges must not be a condition of accessing your funded place.
